Q. Your current program and cost data updated and current for which year?
A. We have just issued program updates for year 2024. This is an earlier date than conventional with regular updates issued in December. However, in order to correctly reflect recent price changes in the construction industry, we have adopted an early update schedule.
Q. I use the trial version of your Excel-based estimator. What additional features will I get if I register?
A. First, the time restriction is removed. We update cost data periodically. We also update and improve the program frequently. When registered, you will receive free support services.
Q: When I start any Excel-based software program with Excel, I do not see the menu inserted among the standard Excel menu system. Why?
A: Depending on your Excel version, here's what to do.
For MS Excel 2007/23 Users:
When you start the program, Excel security warning that says "Some active content has been disabled" will appear. Click on "Options" button next to this warning, then select “Enable This Content” and click OK.
This will allow the program to run on MS Excel 2007/23. When your estimator opens, the program menu (such as GeneralCOST) can be accessed by clicking on Excel's "Add-Ins" menu.
Q. Can I distribute the estimator file to others in my organization?
A. Each estimator is licensed for one computer use. Therefore, it is illegal to distribute to others. However, you may purchase multiple licenses or site license for use in organizations.
Q. I use GeneralCOST Estimator. When I insert cost items in my database should I also add a costcode?
A. This is not necessary but highly recommended. Because, with an attached costcode, the cost item may be sorted and uniquely defined.
Q. With GeneralCOST Estimator, how can I customize the "Quote" report that goes to my client?
A. There are 2 ways. One is to edit the source data in the "Quote" worksheet. You may edit cells highlighted in yellow. The second way is to edit the final report. After edits, simply print on printer and send to your client.
Q. When I open the estimator, Excel says macros which may contain viruses. What should I do?
A. Because we guarantee virus free downloads, you should click on "Enable Macros" button and proceed with a peace of mind. Because our estimators have a lot of code (macros) built-in, if you disable macros, then you will not be able to run the estimator successfully.
Q. I want to rename tab labels to reflect my industry. How can I do that?
A. You can rename cost data sheets. Be sure not to have spaces in the labels. Also, you may not delete tabs or add new tabs.
Q. My program continues to indicate Trial version even though I purchased it, why?
A. Once you purchase your estimator you must either download the registered version from the emailed link or you must enter your Authorization Code into your software to activate it. Your Authorization Code is sent via email to the email address you supplied at the time of purchase.
Q. Do the Trial and Registered software installations provide an "Uninstall" function in case I wish to permanently remove the software product from my computer?
A. Yes, installation will provide an "uninstall" menu item under the Start menu program group. Clicking on it and following instructions will lead to permanent deletion of the program files and desktop shortcut from the computer. For example, to uninstall RemodelCOST Estimator Trial or Registered edition from the computer, simply click Start > RemodelCOST Estimator > Uninstall. Then follow screen instructions. Also, you can use Windows own uninstall function from the Control Panel.
Q. When I purchase a software title from this website, what will be my end user agreement?
A. The following is a sample end user agreement for RemodelCOST Estimator. It will be displayed on your screen at the time of software installation. Other products carry end user agreements that are similar in content and scope.
Q. Do you accept bitcoin and other cryptocurrency payments?
A. Currently, we do not accept bitcoin and other cryptocurrency payments but plan to do so in the future for customer convenience.
